“The interior of the Palác was designed to realize the concepts of a generational space and an independent cultural center.” — František Skála
Each individual interior was to have its own individual character according to its function; uniformity of the whole was ensured by the signature creative approach of one common author.
Theater hall – originally from the 1930s. It was constructed specifically to correspond to contemporary technical standards, but at the same time functioned as a powerful spiritual space. Dominate is the resultant “living plasters” and stucco decorations of large-scale figure reliefs, whose effect is enhanced by the overhead lighting. The luminous atmosphere of the alcoves and of the incorporated plastic breaths of the air conditioning regulated by dimmers. Nestling accessory lighting and an open sky with swifts. Todov spires and vault stairs to the balcony. The entire space has a design atmosphere hard of classifiable historical style (partially incomplete).
Ground floor, the true staircase to the balcony – “the gift of talent” – the divine hand extending from above serves the gentlemen’s purse, the so-called “buzultaška” that is literally full of talent that explodes inside it. Individual pages of the gift of talent trying to get out like Lada’s shirttails and they count on the developing lushness of Corinthian acanthus. Do you actors carry this weight? Do you offer the pages fresh again with stage gimmicks?
Ground floor portal – masculine attributes – A rocket sombrero burst ahead, male tenderness on sticks gently crunches the microphone. A light breeze inflates Dad’s Adam’s apple. The buttons were broken. A rocker can die young. The thighbone is smashed by electric current.
Ground floor portal – feminine attributes –The eye is a seed, the nose a carrot, mouth a cracked pod. A plaited chrysalis of 65 glossy ribbons, a beehive. A spool of ice cream, a revolving tassel. The iron-plated cone Mado Balcony, stairway on the left – passage of death – Get into the car of forgetting whose wheels are extensions of massage gadgets. Drift together with rolls of birch bark –the blank document of the future for you on the dot of a musical note. Charon carries you. And in the background of the infernal interior of his boat – human remains. A souvenir of the 20th century –memento mori of the automobile. Mug of boiling Tatra 613 passes the cypress of peace.
The so-called Small Stage (Malá scéna) is a more intimate space with stylishly pronounced music corresponding to the overall atmosphere of Palác Akropolis.
The Small Stage (Malá scéna) or chill-out lounge is geared towards the post-concert mood, the needs of visitors and the possibilities of the space. Above all it is meant for meeting, momentary inspiration and music, which ideally keeps the chill-out going.
The Small Stage (Malá scéna) creates a strikingly stylish integrated concept, which causes the listener to become an interpreter and simultaneously gives this space for young people exposure to more experienced DJs. The chill-outs promote styles such as drum'n'bass, dub, reggae, ethno, world music, deep house, acid jazz, etc., most likely in their smoother forms.
From Sunday to Wednesday specially mixed recorded music is played, the end of the week is for live performances with DJs. Through its chill-out sets and style kinship to existing events in the so-called Large Hall (Velký sál), it is musically and lay-out wise the opposite of the independent theater bar.
In the Small Stage (Malá scéna) more intimate live concerts are also held. And of course, a bar with a large selection and pleasant service is available to visitors.
Open even when the theater is not open as a “down home” whimsical enterprise with a dusky atmosphere, the possibility for live music and intimate meetings. The poetics of old tables, great benches and a long bar. A suburban shed of “rare wood,” weathered metal, trolley car cables and mushrooms.
During its lifetime the space of the theater bar has been a place for great parties, where you are exposed to music by the best Czech DJs, and styles such as house, drum ‘n’ bass, breakbeat, reggae, hip hop, latin, funk and deep house.
Intimate communal space serving as a smoking area and exhibition space.
In this café with original interiors, pleasant socializing, a large selection of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks and cocktails and excellent music await you, as well as a selection of CDs and t-shirts on sale. In the summer you can even sit in the garden.
