Akropolismultimediale is an alternative show of contemporary forms of electronic music and culture, the so-called new media (video art, digital film, video mixing, interactive art, etc.). The setting emphasis innovative approaches and untrodden connections, especially musical and visual, as well as other types of performance art, such as dance and theater. The festival is built on the originality and imaginativeness of its musical and visual aspects and aims to steer clear of today’s conception of multimedia events as a “static” connection between DJ and VJ. Akropolismultimediale endeavors to introduce new approaches in audiovisual production in the Czech musical and video art scene in clubs that are easily accessible to a wide audience. The contemporary multimedia scene offers a selection of very interesting, though paramountly artistic or for amateur technicians not quite understandable projects. For this reason the setting of the festival puts an emphasis on the selection of artists, who are able transform the academics of their projects into a language understandable to ordinary viewers. The technology that the artists use in their presentations include, for example, mixing and remixing music, video mixing/remixing, recycling film canisters and music videos, DVD scratching, etc.
