LONGITAL /SK
Longital is a duo formed by Daniel Salontay and Shina, eclectic songwriters from Bratislava, Slovakia. Longital build their songs on vibrant and energetic music full of surprises and dynamic changes. Their lyrics reach inside the human soul and tell the stories of its travels in this world. Shina’s charismatic voice, strong stage presence and her fretless bass deeply played by bow are balanced with Daniel’s sophisticated and wild acoustic guitar craft ranging from minimal patterns to jazz creations.

Within 13 years of existence, Longital have been crossing the borders not only in musical sense, but also territorially. The band name Longital refers to the hill where the band resides and from where they travel all over the world. Longital have toured 12 countries in Europe, USA and Canada, including the famous SXSW festival in Austin. The band has released 9 albums in their own label Slnko Records which is nowadays the foremost indie label in Slovakia. Besides records and touring, Longital’s cinematic style has been discovered and used in numerous movies and theatre plays in Slovakia and the Czech Republic

ZAPASKA /UA

Zapaska is the most well-known in the Eastern Europe Ukrainian indie-pop duo. Two performers, Jana Shpachynska and Pavlo Nechytajlo, use traditional instruments (guitar, mini bottom accordion, kalimba, piccolo trumpet) and electronics (groove box, effect processors, looper) to create their own sound. Their music is simple and, at the same time, experimental. Their compositions are living, arising here and now.

Since 2010 Zapaska plays lots of live shows in Ukraine and Europe. In autumn 2011 and winter 2012 Zapaska is on tour in Czech Rp. and Slovakia, supporting the stars of Slovak alternative stage Longital. In autumn 2012 Zapaska travels around 25 cities in Ukraine, Moldova and Bielorus, in the biggest tour ever with Czech band Kuzmich Orchestra. In 2012–2013 Zapaska performs above 90 concerts per year, more than half of them – outside Ukraine. The duo has several shows in Sweden, Hungary, Austria, Moldova, Russia and full-scale tours in Poland, Czech Rp., Romania, Germany and the Baltic states.

In 2014, after two EPs (Lanka, 2010 and Translitom, 2011) Zapaska records the first album KONTUR. Digital version is available for free download as a gift ‘for everyone who in this difficult moment for Ukraine is struggling for better future’. Among guest stars joining the album are Robert Piernikowski (Napszyklat, Pl), Nina Garenetska (DakhaBrakha, Dakh Daughters, UA), Grygori Semenchuk (DrumТИатр, UA). KONTUR CD, supplemented by remix from Czech duo DVA, is out in May 2014 on a prominent Slovakian label Slnko Records.
