Few jazz musicians can shatter the audience on such a level as the composer and saxophonist Guillaume Perret. Routine labels as „jazz fusion“ or „heavymetal bebop“ fall far short of reality. Perret plays his instrument like Jimi Hendrix through a wahwah pedal, and he paid his dues listening to Frank Zappa, John Surman, African and Brazilian music. Guillaume Perret is a sound explorer. His music doesn't belong to a specific genre, rather it calls upon our senses. It is an innovative mixture of contemporary jazz, funky grooves, that evokes sensations and imagery. His masterpiece debut album (April 2012) was produced by John Zorn (Tzadik). Guillaume Perret and his band the Electric Epic have been playing up a storm past years, making headlines across the country for their eclectic, mesmerising and unique sound. In 2013 they were selected to perform at the Womex music fair, where jazz is rather scarce, in July 2014 his band became a sensation at Colours of Ostrava festival.
