Dotted world of Emil Šourek

Born on 29 January in Prague, since 2002 I live in Senohraby;

  • 1963 – 1968 – ČVUT, Faculty of Civil Engineering;
  • 1965 – champion of Prague decathlon;
  • playing basketball recreationally for 35 years;
  • I started with drawing humour in 1978. I have published circa 1200 drawings – eg. In Stadión, Svobodné slovo, Lidová demokracie, KUK, Škrt;

I worked as project architect, construction manager, Building Operating Manager and civil servant. I went to retirement in 2007 after I had vainly tried to organise the construction of weirs on Elbe water road under the city of Ústí nad Labem and Děčín.

Participant in domestic and international caricaturist contests. Awards in Emil Stadión contest. Most often themes – earlier – sport, water, art-noveau friendship of Alfons Mucha and Kája Saduek; now – portraits of celebrities, illustrations to Jan Born poetry.

Besides others, I like František Skála, Otokar březina, Josef Váchal, Jakub Deml, Josef Hlávka, Leonides Andrejev, Kája Saudek (particularly this one), Ivan Martin Jirous, Jáchym Topol, Quentin Tarantino, Jerry Lee Lewise (I visited both his Prague concerts), Tros Sketos and Eva Turnová. I like to go to Carpathian Ruthenia occasionally.
