In the story of love and jealousy in the circus background (Fellini often returns to this theme) starring Anthony Quinn as the strong man Zampan and the director’s wife Giulietta Masin who plays the abandoned Gelsomina. Fellini was fascinated in his work by tension between theatre mask of the character and its hidden, confused inner life.
The Road, awarded with Oscar, has made Fellini famous renowned director and brought to fame even the protagonist, whose characteristics foolishness was compared to Charlie Chaplin´s performance.
