A composition of a relationship between a mother and a daughter. I was inside you. You are inside me. Can we possibly not be alike? An authorial production by Anna Klimešová and Dominika Špalková.
Sometimes I look in the mirror and I see you. Our gestures are sometimes as similar as our memories are different. I was inside you. You are inside me. We hold each other. Sometimes I let go of you, sometimes you leave me. Still, we are connected. Can we possibly not be alike? Can we accept even what we don’t like about each other? What we have in common and what is just ours?
“Nothing else, Mothers” represents the theme of a relationship between a mother and a daughter. Several following parts like points on a map picture the journey of a mother and a daughter, constantly moving, shaking, changing. “Nothing else, Mothers” is about melting the subjective memory, about the strength and power of our feelings, about acceptance and manipulation. About a transfer of emotional patterns from one generation to another. To what extend do we let our initial relationships and behavior patterns affect us? And when we see through them, can we exceed them?
Dancer Cécile Da Costa and actress Antonie Formanová dance, whisper, act and sing about care, silence, a trip to Mount Fuji, tacit agreements, unrealistic expectations, inexplicable joy and cruel worries. “Nothing else, Mothers” is, above all, a common act of understanding.
