AMELIE SIBA

Amelie Siba – the young and charming songwriter from Prague is one of the most visible faces of the country’s contemporary independent music scene. Her name is most frequently connected with adjectives such as gentle and intimate.

Amelie Siba injects each song with her own stories, reflecting both retrospective and current states of mind. Her lyrics, like diary entries, revolve around the state of being on the brink of adulthood, the relationships to others, and around the self in process – its inner pain, uncertainty, and the search for values. Amelie’s storytelling is accompanied by soft guitar melodies and gentle electronic music, infusing her works with a signature dreamy ambiance. Though her songs may appear depressing at first, they are principally full of hope, belonging, and faith in a better future – because “time goes on”. Her work is deeply personal and often based on the artist’s own concrete experience. Yet, it is inviting and allows the listener to identify themselves and awake their inner ‘teenage girl’. Amelie insists on creating a personal, intimate space at her concerts, presenting her audience with a near therapeutic experience.

BRATŘI

Bratři are a new face on the Czech electronic music scene. Twins Jiří and Ondřej conceived the music project, which oscillates around a combination of catchy electronic dance and techno. The central driving forces are Jiři's live percussion/drum beats and the melodic motives and sequences created by Ondřej on analogue and modular synthesizers. Two captivating streams converging on stage in one uncompromising flow of electrifying energy. In 2017 Bratři released their first EP Monster and followed it up in 2018 with a new single called Manual. Since their inception in 2016, Bratři have played a large number of concerts and festivals; Colours of Ostrava, Rock For People, Chateau Perché (F), to name but a few. In April 2019 they released a single and music video called Monarch and took part in the showcase festival Tallinn Music Week, where their live set was chosen among the TOP 10 live acts. From September 2019 to February 2020 Bratři took part in various showcases, namely Nouvelle Prague, BUSH, MENT, and Eurosonic Noorderslag. After that, they appeared among the 16 nominees of prestigious Music Moves Europe Talent Award 2021. In summer 2020 Bratři commenced work on their debut album, which will be released in the spring of 2021.

badfocus

badfocus is an emerging project of a Prague-based producer, composer and multi-instrumentalist Prokop Korb. His music represents an abundant sonic fantasy powered by the endeavour to expand his own musical language.

While still being in his teenage years, badfocus embodies a genuine creative spirit with an endless hunger for new soundscapes, beats and melodies. Despite originally coming from a jazz background, badfocus experiments with various genres such as electronica, classical music, hip-hop, or indie pop. He thus creates a completely unique world in each of his songs, which are freed from genre conventions. The main link between the mixture of genres is the indented emotional impact on listeners. While listening to badfocus you can hear parallels with artists and projects such as Nils Frahm, Ólafur Arnalds or Bonobo, but you will definitely recognize his original sound that crystallizes with each released song.

LASH AND GREY

Acclaimed Slovak pop-soul artists Kristin Lash & Jakob Grey are among the most outstanding young personalities of the Slovak music scene. Through passionate, soulful and emotive vocals, accompanied by vulnerable lyrics, bright harmonies, and massive pop hooks, they have made a name for themselves, making it impossible to ignore. ‍

The soulful, jazz sounds of Lash and Grey perfectly capture moments in time, like a gentle reproduction of moments for you to hear and feel. Having met at the Jaroslav Jezek Conservatory in Prague, the two musicians instantly bonded, creating music that reflected a shared love, whilst flaunting their impressive talents.

Within Kristin there is a young Billie Holiday, full of multi-timbral deep desire. Jakob, meanwhile, has all the talent and dexterity of many a great jazz guitarist young and old, with the nimble-fingered dexterity of Montgomery and the vigorous passion of Grasso combined. Together, their music captures that feeling of fresh love and togetherness, acutely manifested through their intimate and singular style.

Their debut, ‘Sleepin’ with the Lights On’, released in 2020, is a delicious and meticulously well-written album that conveys the artists’ personal memoirs of their time spent together. ‘Sleepin’ with the lights on’, the album’s title track, portrays that longing feeling of waiting for someone you love, a narrative that runs throughout the record, whether on single ‘Comin’ Home’ or ‘I Wish’.
