Prague – 11th December 2014 – Taking place from 21st January to 6th February 2015 and now entering its second year, Festival Spectaculare merges contemporary electronic and experimental music, dance, movement theatre and multimedia, projections as well as visual arts. This year’s event will be held at a range of Prague locations – the DOX Centre for Contemporary art, the Saint Salvator Church, Palác Akropolis, Planetárium Praha and Cross Club. “The huge interest in all the concerts and performances we recorded from the first year proved to us that a niche market really exists for this kind of festival,” festival dramaturge, Josef Sedloň reveals. “And that’s why we’ve decided to offer a more extensive line-up this year. The artists involved present the most interesting names out there right now,” Sedloň concludes. The second ever Festival Spectaculare will include a performance by French-Belgian dreamy, electro-acoustic musician and singer, Sylvain Chauveau, the founder of Hidden Orchestra, British pianist and violinist Poppy Ackroyd, one of the greatest legends of ambient music, Norwegian artist Biosphere, delicate Belgian folk-ambient singer-songwriter Chantal Acda, Parisian composer and pianist Quentin Sirjacq, British producer Throwing Snow merging club rhythms with post-rock and folk, the heart and soul of avant-garde Australian sound label Room40; Lawrence English, John Chantler and Heinz Riegler, the guys from Berlin-based label Monkeytown Alex Banks and Dark Sky who perform innovative electronic music which floats somewhere on the boundaries between dance and experimental music, German beatmaker Kalipo, veteran of the post-dubstep scene Synkro from Manchester and Finnish minimalist dark pop duo Femme En Fourrure. The festival will be brought to a close with a concert from German group, Brandt Brauer Frick which manages to find a soul in the mechanic rhythm of techno by using live club grooves. When it comes to Czech artists performing at Festival Spectaculare, audiences can look forward to checking out Lenka Dusilová and Beata Hlavenková as well as Clarinet Factory, Orlak and Zabelov Group. Sylvain Chauveau’s concert at the Saint Salvator Church will be complemented by Music from Silence – a collaborative music-visual project between Clarinet Factory, Alan Vitouš and Petr Nikl. In terms of contemporary dance, audiences can feast their eyes on a solo visual –movement performance by outstanding artist, Linda Kapetanea the female half of the RootLessRoot company. All the concerts will be enhanced by projections and VJing – including The Macula Visuals at Planetárium Praha and VJs from the Lunchmeat and Visionfactory studios. The programme will also feature workshops with several artists, a Saturday creative children’s workshop with Clarinet Factory and projections of music films at the Bio Oko and Kino Světozor art house cinemas – including recordings with the bands Sigur Rós, Nine Inch Nails, Caribou, New Order and the impressive visual opus, Baraka. Tickets may be purchased at the Palác Akropolis box office as well as from Ticketpro and Goout.cz. The festival is being organised by Palác Akropolis as a loosely connected sequel to the Music Infinity concert series, part of Live Europe.
