info

Iberian Waves brings to Brno a diverse cross-section of contemporary music from the Iberian Peninsula – from tradition-inspired forms to modern electronic sounds. The evening presents four distinctive artists, each connecting local roots with a contemporary musical language in their own way.

Amorante is the musical project of Basque multi-instrumentalist and ethnomusicologist Iban Urizar. His work draws from Basque folk traditions, sensitively blending them with experimentation, improvisation and electronics. The result is intimate and poetic performances deeply rooted in cultural context.

Musgö is a Spanish harpist, singer and electronic composer from Andalusia. She combines harp, voice and subtle electronics to create immersive soundscapes inspired by folk and pop. Her live performances move between intimacy and experimentation, establishing her as a distinctive voice on the contemporary European scene.

Nayr Faquirá is a Portuguese singer, producer and composer of Mozambican descent who has built a strong presence on the music scene over the past decade. Her work blends elements of R&B, soul, hip-hop, afrobeat and world music, connecting cultural roots with a modern sound, marked by emotional depth and authenticity. Her debut album Entrelinhas (2025) presents a mature and personal artistic statement moving between soul and afrobeat.

Meta_ is a Portuguese singer, composer and producer from the Trás-os-Montes region. Her work combines voice, field recordings and electronics, drawing inspiration from traditional vocal forms and folk music. Her debut album XIV – A Integração (Shika Shika, 2023) premiered at Primavera Sound Porto and received a four-star review in Songlines magazine.

Iberian Waves is a festival organized by Palác Akropolis in collaboration with Fléda, Instituto Cervantes and Camões Institute, aiming to introduce Czech audiences to the musical diversity of Iberian regions. The project is supported by Acción Cultural Española (AC/E) within the PICE program and is also part of the Liveurope initiative, connecting European concert venues and supporting emerging artists, co-funded by the Creative Europe programme of the European Union.
