Twenty female stage directors-choreographers and one performer. Twenty different directorial approaches to one topic.

We present to you Ibsen’s Nora of the 21st century seen twenty times differently, encompassing geographically and culturally conditioned gender questions about the identity of a woman-creator-mother, who resists to be kept in a Doll's House.

From Prague to Nairobi or Ukraine, female directors and choreographers transfer their own reality into the image of the stage character. They communicate the ever-present theme of Ibsen's drama in the context of the cultural field and their own artistic practice. Limitations by time and space, classic economically conditioned limits that women, especially mothers, feel in their artistic practice, are a common starting point. Two days of rehearsal, two minutes of material for one body, an empty space, a new meeting.

Miřenka Čechová and her body as a living document or a catalogue of various female directorial approaches, to which she submits herself in the spirit of Ambravič's performance Rhythm 0 (1974).

Twenty-one is a performative anthology of female creators whose voices have long confronted the existing cultural and social space and brought fresh perspectives and provocative ideas to the topic under discussion.
