THE 113

They have established themselves as one of the most compelling new voices emerging from Leeds’ ever-evolving underground. Their music is abrasive, urgent and deeply rooted in the unease of modern digital life. Lyrically, they confront surveillance, data harvesting and the quiet anxiety of existing inside systems that constantly observe and measure.

The band describes their current sound as “desperate and panicked” – a fitting summary. Discordant guitars, thunderous offbeat rhythms and relentless forward motion create a sonic pressure that feels both physical and psychological. Frontman Jack Grant channels a dual message: a rallying cry against big tech’s expanding grip, and an honest admission of powerlessness in the face of its inevitability.

Their songs are not designed for comfort. They are claustrophobic, confrontational and uncomfortably precise. The 113 don’t offer escape – they force confrontation.

Blve Velvet

A young band from Bratislava and Pezinok whose story truly begins with a “meaningful coincidence.” At the end of 2023, a raw voice message – a girl screaming into her phone – reached three musicians rehearsing in a small garage. Captivated by its intensity, they invited the unknown voice to join them. That voice belonged to Nina “Nony” Radčenko, who became the band’s frontwoman despite never having sung in a band before.

Blve Velvet’s sound is dark, chaotic and emotionally charged. Blending punk aggression with poetic urgency, their music reflects personal struggles, generational anxiety and the suffocating pressure of contemporary society. The comparison to David Lynch’s Blue Velvet is apt – their songs dig beneath the surface of everyday reality to expose its unsettling core.

Their debut album Zmysluplná náhoda (2024), produced by Viktor Ori, quickly made waves in the Slovak underground. Live, Blve Velvet are overwhelming: a tightly synchronized unit driven by Nony’s total physical and emotional commitment. Loud, visceral and unforgettable.
