woodoo x Landmine Alert proudly bring back to Prague one of the most distinctive post-punk bands of today. Preoccupations return with their new album Ill at Ease – new songs, the same old perspective on a collapsing world that’s taking us down with it. Their support are old acquaintances from the Prague formation Vellocet Roll

After thirteen years on the scene, hundreds of shows and several acclaimed records, Preoccupations are still evolving and pushing their sound forward. Ill at Ease is the band’s fifth studio album and their first released under the label Born Losers Records. It delivers an even deeper dive into dark, atmospheric sonic landscapes, referencing britpop, post-punk and experimental electronics. The single “Bastards” carries raw, urgent energy, while the title track “Ill at Ease” (out on April 23) fuses layered melodies with searing lyrics about anxiety and alienation.

Live, this band embodies intensity, energy and a captivating atmosphere. No pompous words, just a band coming to do what they do best – play in a way that makes it feel, for a moment, like nothing else in the world exists.

The Prague post-punk band Vellocet Roll released their debut album A Man Asleep in 2019 on Theremin Records, which gave them a distinctive, gritty sound. Their five-piece live lineup creates a sonic collage full of psychedelia, hazy guitars blending with the neurotic edges of saxophone. On A Land Ridden by Darkness (Full Moon Forum, 2021), the band enriched their dense, energetic sound with unexpectedly seductive free-jazz passages, which they further developed on their most recent EP Halcyon Days, where they decided for the first time to use Czech lyrics. Currently, the band is working on their third full-length album, a sonic collage without musical boundaries. Vellocet Roll are today among the very best live acts on the vibrant Czech alternative scene. — Fullmoon mag
