MODERN ENTITY SHOWCASE

If you're into Mount Kimbie, M83 or Little Dragon, the Modern Entity showcase is one you won't want to miss. Bringing two distinctive voices from LA's contemporary alternative scene to Palác Akropolis, the night features Tropics, the project of Christopher Ward, whose electronic music has attracted attention from Pitchfork and The Fader, alongside Sarah & Collin, a duo blending art-pop with cinematic psychedelia. Both acts are connected through the Modern Entity label, where electronic music, indie and pop meet without the need for strict genre boundaries. As part of Spectaculare, the showcase offers a glimpse into Los Angeles' evolving electronic scene and a chance to expand your musical horizons.

Behind Tropics is British producer, composer and multi-instrumentalist Christopher Ward, who has long been based in Los Angeles. Since his debut on the cult label Planet Mu, his sound has evolved from dreamy electronica and trip-hop towards the rawer territory of Reality Fever, an album where electronic production collides with post-punk, indie rock and psychedelia. Ward has remixed tracks for M83 and Little Dragon, while his work has received attention from Pitchfork, The Fader and Resident Advisor. Yet Reality Fever is no exercise in nostalgia. It presents a harder-edged, contemporary version of Tropics, making more room for live instrumentation and rougher arrangements alongside his signature melancholy.

Sarah & Collin represent a younger generation of artists on the Los Angeles label. On their debut album This Time, Sarah Yocute and Collin Simas weave art-pop, industrial textures and psychedelia into a distinctly cinematic sound. Under the Radar has highlighted their ability to move between conventional songwriting and soundtrack-like atmospheres. Rooted in LA's DIY scene, the duo developed their layered live performances largely outside traditional club settings. Modern Entity offers them a natural home for music that refuses to choose between electronics, a full-band sound and experimentation.

The showcase is part of the 14th edition of the multidisciplinary Spectaculare festival, taking place across various Prague venues in March and April 2027.
