Sunday 22. 3.
info Venue: Synth Library Prague
Workshop for: adults + children and youth aged 12+
Would you like to get hands-on with synthesizers, explore how they work and create your own electronic sound in just a short time? As part of Spectaculare Festival, this workshop offers a unique opportunity to learn from musician and producer HRTL, a specialist in modular synthesis, together with Mary C, co-founder of the Synth Library. Participants will be introduced to the basics of sound, the principles behind electronic instruments and ways to navigate the diverse world of synthesizers. The workshop focuses on practical exploration, sound design and basic composition. No prior experience is required – curiosity and a willingness to experiment are all you need. Synthesizers shape not only electronic dance music, but also contemporary pop, film soundtracks and digital media. With a long history, they have significantly influenced popular culture and the field of sound design – from cinema to the everyday sounds of objects around us. Even if you have never seen a synthesizer in action, chances are you have encountered its sound many times. Leoš Hort, known as HRTL, is a key figure on the Czech electronic music scene. For more than a decade he has been performing with modular synthesizers, delivering energetic, improvised live sets that blend breakbeats, techno kicks, acid basslines and playful melodies. He has performed across Europe and beyond, known for his direct and physical approach to live electronic music. Marie Čtveráčková (Mary C) is a sound artist, DJ, curator and co-founder of the Synth Library – a shared space dedicated to learning, experimentation and discussion around electronic music. Her work focuses on accessibility of technology, informal education and the social and cultural contexts of music-making. |
