Slovak alternative music, bleak post-punk and an orchestra of girls’ wars. Palác Akropolis will be pulsing at the beginning of October.

Viktor Ori

Viktor Ori is one of the distinctive figures of the contemporary Slovak alternative scene. After more than ten years fronting the band Shallov, he embarked on a solo career in which he blends punk, shoegaze, screamo, trip-hop, industrial and pop. On his debut album LEPSIE NEBOLO NIKDY DOBRE NEBUDE, he works extensively with Slovak lyrics for the first time, placing personal and social themes within a raw sound that has attracted the attention of fans and music media in both Czechia and Slovakia.

KOSMETIK INSTITUT

Originally a bedroom project from Brno, KOSMETIK INSTITUT is formed by two longtime friends who combine synthpop, post-punk and prominent guitar riffs. On their third EP Lhal jsem v motivačním dopise, they explore exhaustion, pressure at work, mental health and generational differences. Prague-based producer Drew Linden helped the duo with the record’s post-production, and they also collaborate with projects such as matyášovi kamarádi.

Vlasta

Vlasta describe themselves as a punk orchestra from a small Moravian town. With their debut album Dívčí Války, they gradually made their way onto stages across the country, while their music refuses to stay within the boundaries of punk. They mix genres according to their current mood, resulting in music that sometimes surprises even the band itself. Absolute domination.

The PULZ series at Palác Akropolis is curated by Refresher editor-in-chief Vojtěch Tkáč. The evening takes place in cooperation with Akropolis Underground.
